ABOUT THE CLUB

General

The Club is affiliated to two shooting national governing bodies, the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the National Small-bore Rifle Association (NSRA).
These affiliations provide the Club with the required insurance. The Club is Home Office approved and holds a MOD Range Licence to use certain Eastern Region military ranges.

Management

The Club is managed by a committee made up of Officers and Committee Members. The Committee manages the running of the Club as directed by the Club Constitution and Byelaws. The Committee must also comply with, and adhere to, the conditions set by its Home Office Approval, rules set by the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) that the Club is affiliated to, and the requirements set out by its insurers. The Committee membership is as below.

  • Club Armourer (Holds Club Firearms Certificate), Police Liaison Officer

As well as the above Committee members provide Range Safety monitoring and training.

Sections

Air Weapons (AW)

  • We shoot every Thursday evening between 8pm and 10pm.
  • We use a Church hall near the Airport.
  • Weapons are limited to .177 calibre and a 4 or 6 ft/lbs muzzle energy.
  • We shoot at 6 yards and 10 meters.
  • We shoot postal competitions in Kent leagues. Coaching is available for probationary members.
  • Training has been suspended during the COVID crises.

Small-Bore Target Rifle (SBTR)

  • We shoot the second and third evening between 7.00pm and 9.30pm at a private indoor range situated between Rayleigh and Hullbridge.
  • The discipline is .22 Prone Rifle, i.e. we shoot laying down at 25 yards.
  • We can shoot in a variety of postal competitions including individual, pairs and team events.
  • Training has been suspended during the COVID crises.

Gallery Rifle & Pistol (GR&P)

  • We shoot on the first and third Sunday of every month in the morning at a private indoor range situated between Rayleigh and Hullbridge..
  • The firearms used vary in type and calibre ranging from .22 to .45.
  • They include
    • .22 light sporting rifle,
    • centre fire carbines ,
    • Long barrelled pistols and revolvers, and
    • and muzzle loading pistols and revolvers.
  • We currently shoot in various competitions in a Kent league.
  • Training has been suspended during the COVID crises.

Full-Bore Target Rifle (FBTR)

  • National Shooting Centre, Bisley, Surrey.
  • Only NRA SC Card holders can attend the Club meetings which are held every couple of months.
  • Distances vary from 100 meters to 1200 meters.
  • Where possible electronic targets are used.
  • Training has been suspended during the COVID crises.
  • Military Training Ranges – Eastern Region.
  • The Ranges are located in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
  • The Club usually shoots with other Clubs to share costs.
  • Only NRA SC Card holders can attend these meetings which are held every month.
  • Distances vary from 100 meters to 900 meters.
  • Where possible electronic targets are used.
  • Training has been suspended during the COVID crises.

Muzzle Loading Pistol & Revolver
